Are you available to work a part-time, flexible schedule?  

If so, consider becoming a valuable member of the Community Services Department who is dedicated to enriching the quality of life in Richmond through its recreation programs, facilities and cultural events.

As a member of the Community Services Department,  you will perform a variety of routine functions associated with recreational activities, enforce rules and regulations of the recreation program of area, ; assist with maintaining records, set up and take down equipment, provide information to the public, and perform other related duties as required.

Multiple positions are available, and applicants must be energetic, positive, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with youth, teens, adults and seniors.

These are part-time non-benefitted positions.   Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and shift assignments

Position Description and Duties

  1. Processes and maintains records of participants.
  2. Issues and maintains supplies and equipment.
  3. Makes minor repairs to supplies and equipment.
  4. Enforces rules and procedures.
  5. Assists with carrying out recreation activities and special events as directed.
  6. Maintains safe conditions and reports items that need repairs.
  7. Reports accidents and administers routine first aid when needed.
  8. Provides safekeeping for lost articles.
  9. Answers telephones and provides information about scheduled activities.
  10. Assists with getting supplies and equipment, setting up certain equipment, directing participants during events, and cleanup of facility.
  11. Demonstrates good customer service and staff relations.
 

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Knowledge of:
Basic principles and techniques of first aid.
 
Ability to:
Learn rules and regulations of various recreational activities.
 
Work semi-independently and assume responsibility for a task.
 
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, volunteers and other employees.
 
Communication in verbal and written English.
 
Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and shift assignments, as program needs change.
 
Travel to various job sites throughout the City.
 
Work indoor and outside in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.
 
Lift up to 50 pounds and set-up and take-down supplies and equipment.

Experience and Training:
 

  1. Minimum of 15 years of age with valid work permit.
  2. Six (6) months of participation or responsible experience in recreational activities.
License or Certificate:
 
Possession of or ability to obtain, prior to employment, a California Identification Card.
